Tonight’s review is a special one really, it’s Brewery Ommegang’s Adoration.
As I understand it this is a limited run so you may not see this again. I heard about this about a month ago and eagerly waited for it to hit the market around here. It’s listed a Belgian Strong Dark Ale with a lot of spices. According to the bottle they added Coriander, Cardamon Mace, Grains of Paradise and Sweet Orange Peel. The taste is one that pretty enjoyable. So with out further delay here is my review.
This beer pours a deep amber color. It is hazy but with no tannins present. It has about one fingers worth of head. The color is an off white and has no lace. If you take a whiff of the beer before you, you will find that it is pretty complex. I got a brown sugar with cinnamon smell. Hints of sweet banana and raisin were also present. Tasting the beer and I immediately taste the dark malt. I also get a raisin and plum after taste. Also prevalent is a hot liquor bite. The after taste is a sweet cloying after taste with some mild bitterness. Overall, this is a nice beer. It is definitely a sipper as the cloying after taste can be over powering but over all it is one that you should give a taste.
